I have talked about document management systems, and showing you different insights to why certain aspects are important, but I thought it might be a good idea to see how you feel. It’s all well and good for me to sit here and type my fingers to the bone, but without proper feedback, I don’t know how you guys feel. So I have added a poll, feel free to complete it and if need be, leave a reply for me, I will appreciate it.
It’s always important to know what you want from everything, cars, houses, life, just about anything around you actually. So why not your document management system? It has to be important enough to fit into this category, shouldn’t it? If your house is too small, or your car costs you more to fix than the price you originally paid for it, you would change it right? So why not look to your DMS and see where its shortcomings are? Think about what you want from your document management system, and measure it up to what your solution does for you now. If you find areas that need to be enhanced, fix it.
We all know, and I have said this so many times (too many actually), that to be able to run a successful business, you need a system that works for you. A system that allows you to run, control and work with every aspect of your business from one area, without logging into countless other applications. It’s all about convenience, and we know how important that can be for busy business owners that don’t have the time to listen to someone whining about a missing document for a tender. They need the document, and they need it now, no argument. How many times has this happened to your business? Or that dreaded statement, “I know it’s here somewhere, I just put it on my desk.” You should only say that when you misplace your glasses or pen. Or what about those poor documents that are lying in a dark corner in a filing cabinet, important business rules, that never come out to see the light.
Little things like these cause huge rifts in your business, causing losses far beyond what you can actually think of offhand. This can all be stopped, simply by taking a long hard look at your system, and making sure it fits your business like a glove.
I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
